The Expert commission hosts a delegation from Sri Lanka representing different local ministries and agencies to discuss on capitalizing overseas based Sri Lankan human resources as development partners of Sri Lanka. Overseas Sri Lankans play a very important role in promoting socio-economic and political interests of the country, through numerous roles they play as senders of remittances, investors, philanthropists, innovators and movers of economic growth. The commission is simulated with collaboration of the Ministry of Foreign Relations of Sri Lanka, under the Ministry’s 3R strategy; Re-engage, Recognize and Resettle focusing on Emigrants, Migrant workers and Displaced Sri Lankans living abroad respectively. Through this strategy, Overseas Sri Lankans will be involved through four approaches namely Economic, Political, Public & Cultural Diplomacy and People to People Contact.
